Moore School Volunteer Opportunities

Our local public schools are in a moment of crisis and need community assistance. Our partnership with Moore Elementary has been longstanding. The following are volunteer opportunities that Moore Elementary has identified:

  • Classroom Buddies, times vary - Providing teacher-directed assistance in the classroom. To volunteer, please contact Debbie McIntyre at Ardmore Baptist: dajjmcintyre@gmail.com
  • Lunch Monitors, 10:30am - 1:10pm - Any day is appreciated and Fridays are the most vital need. Your participation gives teachers and staff a much needed break in the middle of the day. To volunteer, please contact Assistant Principal Sean Reaves: screaves@wsfcs.k12.nc.us
  • Help in the Garden, times vary - The Moore garden has lost Jonathan Thull, who had to step back. He built up the garden to something incredible. Now assistance is needed to help maintain it. It supports learning and it supports the families through our food pantry. To volunteer, please contact STEAM Coordinator (and new Garden Coordinator who is not a gardener) Kellie Harris: keharris@wsfcs.k12.nc.us
  • Grade Level Literacy is a challenge in our district and at Moore. Data shows that one-on-one tutoring with a trained adult has a significant impact. Love Literacy offers high quality training. After training, you would register for two 30 minute sessions a week. Please register at: https://loveliteracy.org/volunteer-tutoring/

Please note - All Volunteers must be registered with the school district. Please register at: https://www.wsfcs.k12.nc.us/o/wsfcs/page/create-your-volunteer-application

All In For Our Schools

Winston-Salem /Forsyth County Schools are facing an unprecedented financial crisis. When our schools are underfunded, everyone loses. But when we stand together, we can change the story. As we come together in support of our schools, we see efforts great and small happening across the community. More importantly, we see joy and excellence happening in our classrooms as teachers do what they do best and students lean into discovery and learning.

The All In For Our Schools website is spearheaded by an Education Collaborative of nonprofits, foundations, business leaders, faith organizations and community advocates across Forsyth County to provide pathways for community action in support of Winston Salem/Forsyth County Schools, teachers, and students and as a coordinated community hub for donation opportunities specific to identified and immediate needs, while evaluating longer-term solutions.
