Lifelong Learning (Adult Education)

Do not say, When I have free time I will study, for perhaps you will never have free time.  Rabbi Hillel (Pirkei Avot 2:4)

Who is wise? The one who learns from everyone.  (Pirkei Avot: 4:1)

Teaching and learning, guiding and studying: these activities are integral to Judaism, essential to the life of a Jew. According to Jewish tradition, God is “HaM’lamed Torah, the One Who teaches Torah.” Moses is “Rabbeinu, our teacher.” As implied by the quotes above from Pirkei Avot, learning should not be confined to any single stage of life, but rather should be an ongoing process throughout one’s life.

This is the core belief behind Temple Emanuel’s Lifelong Learning Committee.

Our mission is to offer our congregants an enriching variety of classes, events, screenings, and workshops that provide information and inspiration, whether connecting us to our 3,000-year-old history and traditions, or exploring what it means to be a Jew in the 21st century.

Members of all ages are welcome and encouraged to join us.

For more information about Lifelong Learning at Temple Emanuel, please contact Renata Jackson, Lifelong Learning Committee Chair, or Hilary Goldberg, Engagement & Programming Director, with any questions or with your ideas for programs.
