Covid-19 Update, as of December 27, 2021.

The Temple Emanuel COVID-19 Recovery Task Force consults with immunologist Dr. Steve Mizel and other medical professionals to develop our safety measures in response to COVID-19. Please note the following: Starting January 7, 2022, we will require a one-time proof of full vaccination (this includes the booster)—either your CDC vaccination card or a photo of the card—or a negative rapid test taken on the day of the event. We have reinstated mask-wearing at all temple events, inside the Education Building and administrative offices, and at all outdoor events when children are present. At Services, we welcome an unlimited number of fully-vaccinated Temple Emanuel members and visitors, but please be aware that physical distancing is required indoors. Pre-registration for Services is no longer required. You will still be able to join us virtually on LiveStream.

Questions, please contact our office at 336-722-6640 or by email.

The Temple Emanuel library features religious texts, contemporary Jewish literature, current Jewish periodicals, a reference section and children’s books which are available to congregants, students and guests. We always appreciate and encourage donations to our library.

Housed in the Education Building, the library is open during regular office and religious school hours, and is available to everyone in the congregation from our four-year-old preschool students (who enjoy story time each week), to religious school students, to readers from the Sisterhood Book Club, to those studying for conversion, and to those wishing to explore Talmud and learn Hebrew.

Monetary donations made to the Library Fund “In Memory of”, or “In Honor of” a loved one or friend, allow us to purchase new books throughout the year. Memorial donations have enabled us to add to our reference section with large purchases of such things as The Schottenstein Edition of the Talmud as well as single significant volumes like The Torah, A Women’s Commentary. The new Robert Alter 3-volume The Hebrew Bible, Translation and Commentary has been recently added to the Reference Section.

Temple Emanuel’s Sisterhood Book Club thoughtfully contributes to the purchase of new books that will be read by their members throughout the year.

Donations of new or recently published gently used books, DVDs and CDs are also gratefully accepted! Duplicate books or those too old to be catalogued may be offered to anyone wishing to add to their home library, or boxed and donated to the annual book sale at the Greensboro Synagogue.

The Temple Emanuel Library offers a large children’s section, books for tweens and young adults, adult fiction, biographies, mysteries, and non-fiction including cookbooks and study texts. We also have a small collection of DVDs and CDs. Reference texts may only be used in the library.

Directions for checking out materials are on the library desk. Please respectfully return borrowed materials within three weeks. First-time borrowers are asked to fill out an information card, and each book has a blue card for your name and date. Please leave cards in the wood box on the desk.
