Covid-19 Recovery Task Force Update

Updated July 13, 2021

Our outdoor Kabbalat Shabbat Services during the month of June were delightful. We thank all that have been attending either services and/or many of the recent group events for their diligence in adhering to the guidelines. The Temple Emanuel Covid-19 Recovery Task Force closely monitors the ever changing metrics, therefore our protocols can change based on these metrics.

The Covid-19 Recovery Task Force met Tuesday night, July 13 and based on current Forsyth County metrics we have made the following recommendations:

As of Friday, July 23:

  1. Registration for Services or Events is no longer required.
  2. Fully vaccinated members will be asked to sign in for Services or Events, providing your last vaccination date.
  3. Fully vaccinated guests are invited. Upon signing in, in addition to your last vaccination date, we will ask for an email address for contact tracing purposes, if the need arises.
  4. There will be no limit on the number of attendees.
  5. The pool noodles on the pews will be removed. People can sit wherever they would like with their friends. i.e. no Physical Distancing requirements
  6. We ask that unvaccinated children continue to wear their masks.
  7. We will continue with the “ToGoNegs” – an individually, pre-packaged snack to take home following Services.
  8. High Holy Day Planning:
    1. Adults (18 and older) will need to be vaccinated to attend services.
    2. Children under the age of 17 who are not vaccinated and/or not eligible for the vaccine will need to wear a mask.
    3. We will provide “ToGoBags” for both the Rosh HaShanah Night Oneg and Sisterhood Break the Fast.

We continue to strike the balance between our desire to gather and the safety of our sacred community. We strongly encourage everyone who has not been vaccinated to do so, including children 12 years and older.

The accumulating clinical evidence supports the view that the Delta form of Covid-19 has the potential to cause illness in a group of vaccinated individuals who have chronic respiratory or cardiovascular disease. We encourage vaccinated temple members with such conditions to speak with their doctor about the value of wearing a mask while attending Temple Emanuel activities. This is not a requirement, but simply a suggestion.
