Adult Education

Our Adult Education – also known as “Lifelong Learning” – programming at Temple Emanuel is continuously growing and expanding! We are always in the process of creating new experiences for our adult learners, and we have some exciting programs on offer for the upcoming academic year.

2017-18 Adult Education Programs

“Live” from New York:  It’s the 92nd Street Y!
The 92nd Street Y in New York City offers an exciting variety of adult education presentations, which are filmed on location and made available to organizations across North America. This program is back at Temple Emanuel by popular demand, and we are offering not one but TWO great series!

  • First Series:  Wednesdays, November 1, 8, and 15, 7:00-9:00 PM
  • Second Series:  Tuesdays, January 16, 23, and 30, 7:00-9:00 PM

Temple Emanuel Literary Society
Courtney Anthony will lead us in lively discussion during two new literary series:

  • Literature of the Jewish Immigration Experience:
    Wednesdays, December 6, 13, and 20, 7:00-8:30 PM
  • Jews and Judaism in Western Literature:
    Tuesdays, February 13, 20, and 27, 7:00-8:30 PM

The Jewish Diaspora Experience
This three-part series will explore various cultural aspects of the Jewish diaspora, from language to art to music and – of course – food!

  • Tuesdays, May 15, 22, and 29, 7:00-9:00 PM

Hit the Road with Temple Emanuel

We have two exciting opportunities to travel with Temple Emanuel in the spring and summer of 2018:

  • Congregational Day Trip to Monticello, April 8, 2018
Join us for a day exploring and learning about the beautiful and historical mountaintop home of Thomas Jefferson! The trip will focus not only on Jefferson and his legacy, but on the Jewish American Levy family who purchased Monticello after Jefferson’s death and preserved it for the enjoyment and education of future generations.
  • Congregational Trip to New York City, June 15-17, 2018
Our fantastic itinerary includes the Jewish Museum in Manhattan, the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, a Broadway Show, the famous Katz’s Deli, and more! This is the perfect opportunity to experience Jewish New York with your Temple Emanuel family. We will do all of the planning and make all of the arrangements; all you have to do is relax and enjoy yourself!
