Pre-registration for Services and events is no longer required. We welcome an unlimited number of fully-vaccinated Temple Emanuel members and visitors. No physical distancing required. You will be asked to sign in for contact tracing purposes, if necessary.

The Moore Food Pantry is a cooperative effort between Temple Emanuel, Highland Presbyterian Church, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, and Moore Elementary School. The purpose of the pantry is to offer healthy, nutritious food to needy families whose children attend Moore Magnet Elementary School. Families are screened and referred by the school. The pantry opened in October 2013, and the number of families has increased significantly. Over the past 4 months (January-April 2019), we have provided healthy food for an average of 45-50 families per month. We offer a wide selection of food obtained from the Second Harvest Food Bank, fresh produce and bread from Trader Joe’s, and produce, bread, and frozen meat from Food Lion.
Volunteer opportunities include staffing the pantry on the second and fourth Tuesday afternoons of each month. The pantry is open 12 months a year. Volunteers work in 2 shifts from noon-2:30pm or 2:30pm-5:00pm, and assist parents in registration, shopping, and unloading the grocery cart to the family car.
Requested Donations: personal items (toilet paper, bars of soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes) are needed and collected in a large box in the lobby of the Temple Education Building.
Donations of money are always appreciated. Checks can be made out to Temple Emanuel with a notation at the bottom of the check specifying the Moore Food Pantry.
